This post contains spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 25, currently available for U.S. readers from VIZ Media
I feel like I’m super far behind on my Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo review. It’s the final chapter, and even though it just dropped yesterday, it feels like it’s been a week. Leaks from last week spoiled all kinds of things. (Un)Fortunately, I had the flu again. So, I missed the majority of the spoilers while snuggling my Gojo Meow plushy and napping through Tokyo Revengers for like three days straight.
I will be honest. The one spoiler that did reach me had me a little scared. I was worried I wouldn’t get even half as much closure as I wanted. I will say on this before starting: I egotistically feel like Akutami Sensei heard some of my prayers and then answered them. So… Sensei, hontōni arigatōgozaimashita. Now, let’s take a look at the 25th and final chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo.
Kugisaki Is Done With Itadori’s Crap

The very first pages bring us back to Nobara Kugisaki. Yuji walks in carrying tiny baby Panda, only to get an earful from her for disappearing. It’s a nice, familiar exchange. Knowing that despite the decades behind them, some things never change. Throughout the final chapter, the story bounces back to the two of them at the table together. Panda sits on the table between them.
The conversation they have is enlightening. Yuji goes into his reasons for disappearing, distancing himself out of fear of his friends dying. He also worried about what everyone thought of him after he ate the Death Womb Paintings. No longer human or curse, like his brother Choso, he was afraid. He didn’t want to mess with the present anymore, so he kept his hands off. Now, he realizes that the present is an important part of both the past and future.

The distance made him lose sight of what he should have been doing all along. It was up to him to find a way to actualize Yuki Tsukumo’s dream for a world without curses. He realizes it should have been him, not Marulu who took care of it. The positive thing to come out of all this, he knows now what he needs to do, and he wants Kugisaki to help him.
Itadori’s Plan for the Future Leaves Jujutsu Kaisen Open
Maintaining the balance by exterminating curses as soon as they are born is key. Itadori wants Kugisaki to help him teach the remaining sorcerers how about barriers and exorcism, so they’re prepared to handle it on their own.
From there, they’ll need to keep track of every individual born with a Heavenly Restriction and map their bloodline. Then, mass-producing as many cursed tools as they possibly can comes next. But the most important thing is what happens to Yuji in two or three-hundred years, when he dies.
He becomes a cursed object, just like Sukuna. He figures if things in the future get dire, and they need cursed energy, someone eat him, the way he did Sukuna’s fingers. It’s so sweet, Kugisaki hoping there’s someone as gross as him in the future to eat pieces of a corpse.
As they realize they have no idea what will happen, and the future will have to figure itself out, we finally learn Megumi Fushiguro is no longer with them. They don’t say what happened to him, only that at times like this, the wish he was still there.
Everything Comes Back to Family in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo

With Maru ready to face the consequences, Cross, Yuka and Tsurugi join them to help them present their plan to the Rumelians. Despite Kalyans potentially attacking them now, a unanimous decisions is made. Kalyans will continue living among them on Earth because they are more than just beasts that didn’t attack them. The Rumelians see Kalyans as family.
Everyone chimes in at how obvious this choice is. Of course they’d never abandon them. They will all do whatever it takes to ensure the Kalyans aren’t abandoned.

Yuka and Tsurugi’s Mom Is Pretty Mad
And who can blame her, seriously? As she points out in her very motherly lecture, the two of them need to think long and hard about what they’ve done. Not only did Yuka hide her fatal illness from her own mom until it was too late, but then she runs off to Tokyo to fight aliens. Without permission. Her most important reminder is that just because it turned out okay doesn’t make it excusable.
As she gets up to leave them with their guilty consciences, she does add some very sweet consolation. She admits that giving birth to the two of them is the greatest honor in her life. Not only is she proud of them, but she’s sure their grandparents and their father are, too. Okay. I forgive her for being mean and taking Yuta’s ring away from Yuka in Chapter 1.
So, I guess that’s it on that front. We won’t be finding out what is up with Tsurugi and Yuka’s dad, or about the purpose of his meeting with Itadori. Why did Yuta and Maki’s son abandon his family? Will we find out in some future story? Man, I hope so. Loose ends make me twitchy. Like, if it’s not important, why bring it up?
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Spotlights Mahoraga & Dabura In the News

Baseball is such an important pastime in Japan, so it’s no coincidence that Sensei finds ways to incorporate it. Seeing Usami and Jabaloma outside tossing a baseball back and forth is hilarious. Especially considering they’re using it as a form of relaxation as they work through the troubles they’re going to have with the higher-ups. Yuji tells them to blame it all on him. After all, he’s untouchable. What are they gonna do?
The higher-ups will definitely be throwing a fit or two. After all, Mahoraga made the news, right alongside Dabura. With the broadcaster calling Dabura an Alien Hero of Justice, he obviously came to earth to fight the same curse that caused such a ruckus 69 years ago. We catch a glimpse of Ui Ui and his children grinning at the broadcast, with Yuka noting she had no idea New Shadow Style Crows could broadcast curses. Usami would rather they didn’t do that, though.
As Tsurugi asks why they’re playing catch, the chapter begins winding down. Usami explains that it’s a form of relaxation and conversation you can actually see. Maru gets excited, wanting to play catch, to learn more about Earth and its people now that they are part of their world, too.

For Kyoko and Dabura, I Thank You, Sensei
The final panels shift to Yuka and Kyoko Tomoe sitting in the cafeteria together. This is where I personally feel seen by Akutami Sensei. Expressing how glad she is Yuka is still alive, Yuka laments that it unfortunately meant Dabura returning to Simuria.
She tries to brush it off, but even she can’t deny it broke her heart. But just when they quiet down to enjoy their tea, there’s a loud CLACK from behind. We don’t see him, but it’s obviously Dabura’s horn cracking against the doorframe, just like the first time he met her.
Kyoko turns to look over her shoulder with gentle curiosity, and Yuka’s face gives it all away. She’s completely shocked because Dabura is obviously behind Kyoko. I feel like I’ve already asked too much and received it, but an adorable little miniseries about Kyoko Tomoe and her Warrior Alien boyfriend would be epic. Just…sayin’.
To top it all off like a cute little cherry, on the cover for Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 25, Dabura and Kyoko are both searching for each other in the crowd. Change my mind, I dare you. That alone is enough to net Chapter 25 a 9/10 from The Void.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Full Series On a Scale of 1 to 10

It’s been a fun six-ish months, since Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo offered us another glimpse into Akutami Sensei’s world. Not only did Modulo further establish lore for the future, but it gave fans insight to some of their favorite survivors from the original manga. I feel like it left things open enough that there could potentially be more Jujutsu Kaisen to come later, and I’m okay with that.
There are definitely things I wish I had gotten more closure on, and a few things that felt like they could have been elaborated on more deeply. Out of the 25 Chapters, however, I very rarely had anything to complain about. The story is unique to the established world, and the new characters introduced definitely resonated with me as a reader. I wasn’t sure about aliens back in the beginning, and I was honest about that. I was equally honest about how quickly those aliens grew on me.
Sometimes, that which we call flaws turn out to be endearing quirks in the end. Is Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo perfect? No. Is anything in our world perfect (besides Satoru Gojo? What? He is too…) No again. JJK may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I enjoyed the next chapter in the story as much as I did the original manga. I think Akutami Sensei has a really great imagination, and it’s an honor that I get to share in the creativity that flows from it. I also really think Iwasaki Yuji’s artistic contribution was fantastic, and I can’t wait to see more of his art in the future.
