As we fast approach the two year mark since Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 wrapped, let’s not deny the facts. We have all been itching to see Yuta Okkotsu and Yuji Itadori come face-to-face for the firfst time. Manga readers already know where the story goes from Shibuya. Anime-only fans, on the other hand, suffer a long wait for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3.
With Gojo sealed in the prison realm, Nanami dead, and Kugisaki’s status unconfirmed, things couldn’t get much bleaker. Or… could they? When it comes to Jujutsu Kaisen, the answer is always a resounding YES. It’s going to be a long time before we experience anything akin to hope in this story. Fortunately, 2026 is going to be a great year for Jujutsu Kaisen fans! With Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution coming to theaters December 5, 2025, we’ll have everything we need to launch into a new, Jujutsu Kaisen-filled year.
Things Are Gonna Get a Lot Darker In Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3

If you thought The Shibuya Incident was dark, brace yourself because things are about to get worse. As the longest arc in Jujutsu Kaisen, The Culling Game covers 63 of the manga’s 271 chapters. Tons of new characters make their way into the story, with some picking up the mantle left lying on the ground with Gojo’s sealing and others completely in it to win it. Anyone hoping for The Strongest to save the day, don’t hold your breath. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Part 1 will almost certainly be a Gojo-free installment.

Notable characters who make their first appearances during The Culling Game include fan-favorite Hiromi Higuruma, Hajima Kashimo, Ryu Ishigori, and Hana Kuruso, for starters. We will also learn what’s going on with Fushiguro’s sister, Tsumiki, and how things progress between Yuji and his newfound big brother/fellow Cursed Death Womb, Choso. Naoya Zenin will begin his villainous role, and the other remaining Special Grade Sorcerer, Yuki Tsukumo, will start to play a much larger role in the end game.
All that being said, it’s important to remember that Shibuya was the true beginning of what will be a very long end. Fans should remember not to get attached to any one character, otherwise they risk heartache and devastating loss. People are going to die, a lot, even those villains we hate to love and love to hate. So, hold onto your knickers, because it’s gonna get a lot darker from here on out.
Yuta Okkotsu Returns for The Culling Game

Additionally, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 brings JJK 0‘s protagonist, Yuta Okkotsu, into the main story. Yuta made his first brief appearance in the final episode of JJK Season 2. Going forward he and Rika will have a much larger role to play, and I can’t wait to see the cast of heroes grow.
Having spent time away training with Miguel, Yuta returns a much more confident sorcerer. With his past traumas behind him, we finally get to see him shine. This is honestly one of the best parts of The Culling Game and beyond. Gojo put a lot of faith in Yuta, noting early on that he was one of the young sorcerers with the potential to surpass even The Strongest himself.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Begins Airing January 8, 2026
January 8, 2026 is just two months away, and for those of us who’ve been waiting since December 2023, that still feels like an age away. Fortunately, if you’re impatient like me, you can get a sneak peek at Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 on December 5, 2025. Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution reviews the end of The Shibuya Incident and previews content from the first two episodes of The Culling Game arc. To sweeten the deal, it’ll be the second time in 2025 we get to see JJK on the big screen!
