The following contains spoilers for Anyway I’m Falling In Love With You Season 2, Episode 11, currently streaming on Crunchyroll.

Anyway I’m Falling In Love With You has been one of the high points of the Winter 2026 Anime season for me. I know I complain, but in all honesty, I just like to complain. Does that mean I think the series is top notch? No. What it does mean is that it’s obviously decent enough to keep me invested. I guess what it comes down to is this: I have never been a big fan of harem anime and manga, reverse or otherwise.

That isn’t to say I don’t find one I like from time to time. Kakuriyo no Yadomeshi (Bed & Breakfast for Spirits,) for example, is one of my favorites. I don’t even mind the isekai twist it has, and I’m definitely not into isekai. The thing about harem and reverse harem anime that gets to me is simple. Someone, often several someones, end up getting hurt. Anyway I’m falling In Love With You is epic heartache waiting to happen.

Mizuho Should Choose Herself, Seriously

After everything that’s happened in Anyway I’m Falling In Love With You Season 2, I’ve come to a conclusion. The only person worthy of Mizuho’s love at the end of the day is Mizuho. It’s the one thing she seems to be missing in her life. A sense of self-love would go a long way toward making everything going on much easier to deal with. There have been times I’ve felt compelled to pick one love interest over another. In the end, I do think she’ll end up with Kizuki, but maybe she shouldn’t.

Something about the marriage proposal Shin has been building up to for ten years is tragic. Shin’s entire life until this point revolves around Mizuho. He becomes a doctor in order to spare her from any more heartache. Losing her mother broke her. He never wants to see her go through that again. Becoming a doctor means he can save the ones she loves. But can he? Really?

Sure, he saves her dad, but medicine isn’t infallible. Sometimes people die, and there’s nothing that can be done to save them. Shin can’t protect her fragile heart forever. No matter how badly he wants to. It’s an unrealistic promise, not just to Mizuho, but himself. Shin’s put his entire life on hold. He’s hurt a woman he can’t even see cares for him, and for what? Hope that perseverance will pay off in the end? It’s tragic.

Life Is Confusing Enough Without Anyway I’m Falling In Love With You’s Taut Heartstrings

The truth is simple. In that end I mentioned above, perseverance means nothing. In the end, Mizuho doesn’t owe Shin, Shugo, or even Kizuki for that matter, a darn thing. Anyway I’m Falling In Love With You is a shojo manga and anime, which means it’s demographically geared toward females ages 7-18. While there is nothing overly risqué about it, there are a lot of concepts Mizuho and her friends face that are adult in nature.

That empty adult feeling compelling her along in life is typical for new adults trying to navigate life after high school. Having spent four years believing you’re living through the worst time in your life, nothing prepares anyone for new adulthood. Mizuho abandons her dream of becoming a mangaka. She settles into a less complicated life as an editor. There’s nothing wrong with that, but she is definitely questioning her own life choices a lot.

Kizuki giving up on his dream after injury is tragic. He falls into a deep despair that makes it impossible to face the people who believe in him. He turns away from the woman who loves him, but no one judged Mizuho when she gave up her dream. Shugo didn’t go to college, instead taking over the family restaurant. No one batted an eye. Throwing a love square into all of that just makes it feel like too much.

My Biggest Anyway I’m Falling In Love With You Question

Does Mizuho feel like she can’t reject anyone because she’ll lose their friendship? These people have been friends for 20 years. Shugo realizes this, painfully. He can’t let go of his friendship with Mizuho, just because he knows he can never have her. Out of everyone, he might be the only one thinking clearly about Mizuho’s feelings. Kizuki is wrapped up in winning her back. Shin is proposing random marriage out of nowhere.

Honestly, I don’t know why I wasn’t expecting that. It’s been a minute since Shin’s unrequited love took over the plotline. I should have seen it coming. The fact that he proposes to her while her dad’s in the hospital feels so wrong to me. Couple that with the fact the he more or less tells her he’s dedicated his entire life to making sure she never has to feel sad over loss again… Boy… what are you thinking? Her dad almost died! So what if you helped save his life. Now is not the time to be proposing marriage!

I get it, love is messy. It can be cruel and selfish, but these guys are unreal. They’re all so selfish, it makes me want to grab Mizuho by the shirt and tell her to run away. Go to Europe and watch Airu get married. Don’t look back. Stay there. Just run, girl. RUN!

I will say this… I’m glad we’re coming up on the end of Season 2. A break from this anime for a year, or so would be . I can’t even imagine the cliffhanger we’re going to end on, but that’s fine. It’s time for me to start looking forward to Spring 2026 Anime Season’s offerings. I haven’t really looked at them too carefully yet, but I am definitely excited.

Season 2 of Anyway I’m Falling In Love With You has been interesting. Seeing more of them as adults definitely does work nicely. I just wish they’d get their adult lives together. Season 2, Episode 11 was emotional in some good ways, but I do feel pretty bothered by Shin taking advantage of her vulnerability to propose. The animation, as usual, is bright and beautiful in all the right places. I just wish sometimes that Mizuho would wake up and decide the most important person in her life is Mizuho.
